Poppi Farmer is much more than a cafe.
For us it‘s a statement of how we believe we can organise our communities: Full of respect for each other and the Earth. This defines the way we treat our partners, our staff and our guests as well as how we source produce for our seasonal menu.
We choose local farms wherever possible, all produce is grown organically, we run on renewable energy and plant thousands of trees each year to balance our remaining impact on the natural world, making us carbon neutral.
Apart from this bigger picture, Poppi Farmer is also a way of bringing the things we love together in one place. A place of learning, enjoying and connecting. We serve locally roasted specialty coffee grown by a small cooperative, healing tonics as well as homemade and many vegan sweets. Our organic all-day breakfast and lunch options will make you feel nourished and if you are feeling thirsty there are fresh juices, home-made lemonades, local craft beer, espresso martini and natural wines.
If you like life, we got you covered.
With good produce, good vibes and good conscience.
Respect for land and feeling connected to the source of our food, runs deeply in our family. Our grandpa, who was a passionate farmer and who we’ve taken name and inspiration from for our cafe, passed on his love for nature to us.
The rolling hills around Munich, that he loved so, are where we source as much of our food from as possible. This way of life: Local and connected with nature is the shift that we think our communities need. And with Poppi Farmer we are hoping to bring a glowing example of urban, regenerative living to Munich.
Everything at Poppi Farmer holds a story. A story of gratitude for our food, the natural world and the people around us.
We‘d be happy to share them with you.
or how we're making a difference
All our produce is grown organically.
No pesticides, petro-chemical fertilisers or anything like that. Supporting biodiversity and looking after the health of our soils are some of the most important challenges of humankind today. Only organic farming and in particular biodynamic farming, which we choose whenever possible, are working towards increasing soil health and happy bees. Thereby securing future food security.
Oh, and it's better for your body, too.
At POPPI FARMER we want to leave the planet in a better state of health than before we opened our doors.
That‘s why first off we reduce our environmental impact as much as possible. Additionally we plant over a thousand trees and actively protect rainforests every year so that plants and animals can thrive in these healing ecosystems.
So sipping coffee at POPPI isn‘t just good for your taste buds, or the farmer families in Central America but it‘s also helping to plant a forest. Making our cafe certified carbon neutral.
Plants that are left to mature until they are ready to be picked, taste better and are packed full with nutrients.
That‘s why we choose regional produce from nearby, organic farms and adjust our menu accordingly throughout the seasons. We‘d love to eat strawberries all year but lower emissions from transport, the living connection to our food and the far better taste are pretty good reasons to choose seasonal.
We love to connect with the people and landscapes that produce the food we eat. We love to be able to say thank you and ask questions about the growing methods used.
To us it really is essential and of course it‘s the healthiest and most sustainable way to eat as well. So we choose regional farmers who look after their land, which is also our neighbourhood and we can witness how good regenerative farming practices are for the biodiversity we all rely on.
Of course there are the little, luxurious exemptions like chocolate, avos or coffee we sometimes enjoy.
Meet some of POPPI's friends here.
Of course we source our electricity from nearby wind and solar parks. They might not always be pretty but they are very low-carbon and that‘s essential to the future of human communities all around the world.
In our case it reduces our yearly carbon emissions by 6.5 tonnes.
Precious resources are dwindling. Often because of a destructive single-use mentality.
At POPPI it‘s all different. Working closely with our suppliers, we reduce any packaging to an absolute minimum and return used resources back into the cycle.
We also find creative ways to reduce waste as much as possible. Our herbed ricotta that you might have tasted for example was made of the milk that didn‘t quite make it into your flat white.
We love nature and are grateful for our food.
That’s why our menu changes seasonally, according to what the Earth is gifting and our farmers are entrusting us with.
Always organic. Always cooked with care. Our current menu you can find here.
